More than 250 people from community and voluntary groups from all around County Galway were honoured at the County Mayors Awards Ceremony on Tuesday in the Claregalway Hotel. The awards recognise and celebrate community and voluntary activity around County Galway. Eleven Awards were up for grabs after a public call for nominations was made back in October.

A LARGE crowd turned out for the launch of the programme for the Galway Theatre Festival 2013 at Massimo last Friday evening.

The first ‘Over The Edge: Open Reading’ after the summer break takes place in Galway City Library on Thursday August 29, from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. The featured readers on the night are Art Stringer, Ron Houchin, and Kernan Andrews. There will, as usual, be an open mic after the featured readers have finished. The evening will also see the announcement of the long list for this year’s Over The Edge New Writer of The Year competition, which received a very healthy number of entries again this year.

MURDER ON The Menu, the successful murder mystery dinner theatre show which featured in the Galway Fringe Festival, returns this month.
